About

The (Late) Breakfast Society is (mostly) written by Mike Amos-Simpson (me!) - I set up and run YoMo - you can find out about that over on yomo.co.uk - in a nutshell we design and provide resources that support young people to play an active role in society.

Things I’ve done:

  • Set up and ran the Young Movers programme at the National Communities Resource Centre - over 6000 young people and adults attended our courses over 6 years from all over the UK
  • Cycled across Wales a few times with different groups of young people to raise money for various causes
  • Organised a few trips to Africa with young people to work with school children and orphans in Malawi and Tanzania
  • Written & published a couple of books and several training guides & resources

Things I’m doing:

  • Supporting projects in the Zomba region in Malawi to support children to be able to attend secondary schools
  • Developing an online system to help support young people to organise community activities and projects and to recognise the experiences and skills they gain when doing so
  • Developing an online awards scheme to recognise the contribution young people make to society

Things I’d like to do:

  • Cycle across the South of England, the North of Scotland and the North of Ireland (if you’d like to come along let me know!)
  • Develop methods that allow people to easily adopt our training methods on and off line in any language, in any country
