Youth Workers are my TOSHiba Laptop

Over the past few years whilst being involved with youth work/participation/training, myself and a lot of others have come to notice and question- ADULTS. Its often quite rare that we come across an adult who is supporting their group properly and effectively- I know this because a lot of time is spent complaining about the ones who don’t! Sometimes, the adults create more of a problem than the young people. Just recently I have found adults we are working with to be very challenging towards me/us- in a way where it’s not questions to find out information etc- questions to catch you out or prove you wrong and is almost quite patronising. Surely we should be working together rather than against each other- considering the reason we are doing it!! Along with this challenging and arsey attitude- they love a bit of fuss don’t they! Sometimes it’s provoked, some will love a bit of trouble to kick off just so they can “sort it out”. (and of course they keep it very discrete until they plead with you to beg whats going on!)
So- how does this relate to my toshiba laptop. Well, Ive recently been having problems with connecting, I find it unreliable and generally hard to work with- therefore it can sometimes reflect youth workers.
However- there are obviously some great passionate youth workers out there, which as much as I dislike to admit- are in league of a sony vista or an apple mac even- problem free and generally shit hot(apparently). So hats off to those people, and it is so refreshing to come across youthworkers who genuinely believe in what they are doing.
